…”If war is what the US wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight to the end,” China’s embassy said on X, reposting a line from a government statement on Tuesday…

Surprisingly, this highly alarming rhetoric has not gotten the kind of coverage it should. I’m not sure why this is. Any thoughts?

This statement by the Chinese embassy comes amid President Trump’s powerful speech to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, where he announced Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, the world’s largest chipmaker, pledging on Monday $100 billion in fresh funds to build factories in the United States. The Taiwanese firm also committed to set up a major research and development center in the U.S., despite an earlier assurance from boss C.C. Wei to keep innovation on the company’s home island. Many see the move as a way to avoid Trump tariffs.

Will this move by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing and Trump strengthen or weaken Taiwan’s position with Communist China?
