Christmastime in Grants Pass, OR: “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”! (Andy Williams)

So I went to bed last night (and got up this morning) dissatisfied with yesterday’s video. There’s nothing wrong with it per se. I captured some video of Grants Pass, Oregon’s Historic District during the preparations for Christmas.

I was even unconsciously whistling as I was taking the footage (you know–“whistle while you work!”). A little embarrassing, but I just left it in, I guess for “realism” sake! 🙂

I WANTED the sounds of the street and city in there. But it still felt like something was missing. So this morning I decided to cut it up and put some music in it. I had the old Andy Williams song, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” in my head. I wasn’t sure why.

Then I started putting the new video together, and when I got near the end, I saw that same phrase in the window of one of the stores. There it is!

For the new video, I used a shot I took of a manger scene inside one of the store windows as the “thumbnail” image for YouTube. Depicting Jesus’ birth is more fitting and honorable to me than yesterday’s thumbnail of the “Uncle Sam”-looking character.

I love video production. And even the “mistakes” can lead to a nice correction! I hope you enjoy the new video. Keep your eye out for more Christmas-related footage (hopefully) coming soon.
